Bio

Rebekka Rexhausen has a background in communication and political science. Her main research interests are Syria, the Middle East and foreign policy toward the region. Her Master’s thesis focused on the sanctions regime against Syria, exploring the nexus between sanctions and unintended consequences and how the latter can be minimized. Having become politicized by the wave of refugee protests in Europe in 2012, she has been working in encounter projects throughout her studies, thereby gaining a lot of experience in diverse and international environments from a young age.
Currently, she is working as a Project Manager in political education, where she is responsible for developing and implementing education formats on the Middle East and, in this context, has worked with different governmental and non-governmental organizations such as the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Turkish Red Crescent, German Red Cross (GRC), different ministries, political foundations, and universities. Combining her project management and research skills, she serves as Assistant Director and Fellow at the Center for Middle East and Global Order (CMEG).
